System i with a prettier face?
Got this from an AS/400, iSeries and System i systems integrator:

That’s right, it’s a System i 570 (notice TYPE is 9406-570), but the faceplate clearly and proudly says “System p5.” Is this the equivalent of a marketing Freudian slip from the factory? Most likely it’s just an honest mistake, but it’s another twist in the dagger of System i folks who feel that IBM isn’t doing a good enough job promoting the platform.

The 9406-570 (i5), and the 9117-570 (p5), have the same faceplate layout.
What this looks like is someone took the faceplate off of a p5, and put it on the i5 (and vice-versa). While we’ve not done that ourselves, we could, as we have both.

Right - faceplates switched. Reminds me of the old old days at IBM school in Pougheepsie when the instructor would put a “bug” on a machine by switching the light covers on the error and ready lights.
